About AARA
Action Against Rohingya Atrocities
Action Against Rohingya Atrocities (AARA) is an independent, documentation-driven initiative dedicated to confronting denial through truth. We systematically document and preserve evidence of crimes, systematic persecution, and human rights violations against the Rohingya population in Rakhine (Arakan), Myanmar, committed by both the Myanmar military and Rakhine armed groups. Through rigorous field verification, survivor testimonies, visual documentation, and secure digital archiving, we build an accessible and reliable foundation of evidence for researchers, advocates, and international justice mechanisms. Guided by accuracy, integrity, and a survivor-centered approach, we transform documentation into a powerful form of resistance, amplifying Rohingya voices, strengthening accountability, and ensuring that these atrocities are never erased from history.
Who We Are and What We Do
Action Against Rohingya Atrocities (AARA) is an independent, documentation-driven initiative committed to uncovering and preserving the truth of crimes, discrimination, and systematic persecution against the Rohingya population in Rakhine (Arakan), Myanmar. Through continuous research, rigorous field verification, and ethical documentation, we expose realities of violence, displacement, and human rights violations that have been deliberately suppressed or ignored by mainstream narratives.
AARA was established with a singular purpose: to confront denial through truth. Our mission is to systematically archive and present verified records of atrocities committed against the Rohingya by both the Myanmar military and Rakhine armed groups operating in Rakhine State. Through survivor testimonies, visual documentation, digital archiving, and independent research, we ensure these crimes are not erased from collective memory. We build an accessible, reliable source of information to serve researchers, advocates, and institutions pursuing justice and accountability.

Capacity Building
We train youth and volunteers in ethical documentation and data protection.
Our Core Activities
- Conduct interviews and collect survivor testimonies.
- Create and maintain a secure digital archive of evidence.
- Publish periodic reports, fact sheets, and case studies.
- Host exhibitions, webinars, and workshops on the Rohingya genocide.
- Collaborate with international NGOs, journalists, and legal teams.
At AARA, we believe documentation is a form of resistance. Each photograph, video, and testimony is a record of truth that challenges impunity and strengthens the collective voice of the Rohingya community. By linking verified evidence directly to legal action and investing in the capacity of Rohingya youth, we transform documentation into an undeniable instrument for justice, ensuring that the struggle for identity, recognition, and accountability endures.
About Our Vision
To ensure that the truth of the Rohingya genocide, including massacres, mass killings, sexual harassment, sexual violence, forced labour, forced conscription, and systematic atrocities, is comprehensively documented, securely preserved, and widely disseminated for justice, accountability, and historical memory. We envision a world where this irrefutable record of evidence drives legal action, informs global policy, and empowers the Rohingya community in its pursuit of recognition, dignity, and lasting peace. Through our documentation, reporting, and advocacy efforts, we strive to ensure that these crimes are never denied, forgotten, or erased from history, and that survivors’ voices remain at the forefront of the fight for justice.
Our Mission
AARA systematically collects, verifies, and preserves evidence and testimonies related to atrocities against the Rohingya people, including genocide, mass killings, sexual violence, forced labour, and forced conscription, building an irrefutable record for justice and accountability. Through survivor-centered documentation, rigorous research, and strategic advocacy, we advocate for justice and amplify survivors’ voices on the global stage. We are committed to countering denial, ensuring that these crimes are never erased from history, and empowering the Rohingya community in its pursuit of recognition, dignity, and lasting peace.
How We Are Different
AARA is urgently needed to counter denial and obstruction of justice by systematically documenting atrocities against the Rohingya, including the 2017 and 2024 massacres committed by the Myanmar military and the Arakan Army, mass killings, sexual violence, forced conscription, and child labor. Without this dedicated effort, critical evidence risks being lost, and these crimes may be erased from history.
We innovate by integrating a survivor-centered approach with a secure digital archive, ethically preserving testimonies and evidence. Our model uniquely links verified documentation directly to legal action and global advocacy, while training Rohingya youth to sustainably own this process, transforming evidence into undeniable instruments for justice.
